MAXCINE FESTIVAL
Creating links between science, culture and youth for 15 years
October 2 - 7, 2025
We celebrated MaxCine's anniversary festival at a place where new knowledge for the future is created. We brought science to life for everyone and created a lively community around MaxCine, the center for communication and exchange at the Max Planck Institute of Animal Behavior in Radolfzell.
For one week, we exchanged ideas, learned, informed, listened, talked, saw, drew, danceed, lived together and discussed - in the middle of nature.
There were lecture rooms, a research and art camp for young people, exhibitions between art and science, exciting discussion rounds, a knowledge café and various workshops ranging from transmitter construction to scientific drawing, insights into animal families, icon painting and understanding the lives and ways of animals.

From October 3-5, 2025, the MaxCine Festival was held at the old mill at Wasserschloss Möggingen with great success. Approximately 500 visitors took advantage of the offerings each day. Overall, the festival was a very important contribution to the outreach in the region for the Max Planck Institute of Animal Behavior. Many thanks to everyone who became part of the festival by attending!
The MaxCine team would also like to express its sincere thanks to all those who helped with the preparation, implementation, and dismantling of the festival. Without the great commitment of the organizing team and the support of the three departments of the institute, the festival could not have taken place in this form. All the speakers in the lectures, workshops, and at the illustrative stations were first-class and contributed significantly to the success of the event. Thank you very much!
We would like to express our sincere thanks to everyone who supported us and the event!
