Beschreibung
Whether in groups or alone, all animals sleep—from honeybees to humans. In extreme cases, too little sleep can lead to death. To find out how the social environment shapes sleeping behavior in the wild, Prof. Dr. Meg Crofoot and her team are studying the daytime and nighttime behavior of wild olive baboons in Kenya.
Meg Crofoot is director of the Max Planck Institute of Animal Behavior in Konstanz and Radolfzell and professor at the University of Konstanz. She has been awarded the Packard Fellowship in Science and Engineering, an Alexander von Humboldt Professorship, and the Consolidator Grant from the European Research Council, among other honors.
This lecture follows Babette Eid's opening at 11:30 a.m.
