Prof. Dr. Iain Couzin FRS has been conducting cutting-edge research on animal groups for many years—from insects and fish to human societies. Iain Couzin is director at the Max Planck Institute of Animal Behavior in Konstanz and Radolfzell, professor at the University of Konstanz, and spokesperson for the Cluster of Excellence “Center for the Advanced Study of Collective Behaviour.” Among other honors, he has been awarded the Gottfried Wilhelm Leibniz Prize. At the beginning of the year, he was elected a Fellow of the Royal Society, the national academy of sciences of the United Kingdom.
